Estradiol, Sensitive, LC/MS

Overview:
Standard estradiol tests are designed around the concentrations found in premenopausal women, which are relatively high. At lower levels, such as those in men, in children, and after the menopause, those methods lose precision. This version uses liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry, which separates compounds before measuring them and is better suited to the lower end of the range. It is used where an accurate low reading matters, including assessing delayed or early puberty, investigating estradiol in men, and monitoring treatments that deliberately suppress estrogen. Results are interpreted against ranges appropriate to age and sex.
