Lipid Panel, Standard

Overview:
The Lipid Panel, Standard provides a detailed picture of the cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood. It helps assess cardiovascular risk and monitor how your levels respond to changes in diet, exercise, or cholesterol-lowering treatment.
Your results include six measurements and calculations:
  • Total Cholesterol: The overall amount of cholesterol in your blood.
  • HDL Cholesterol: Often called “good” cholesterol, HDL helps carry cholesterol back to the liver for removal.
  • LDL Cholesterol (calculated): Often called “bad” cholesterol, elevated LDL can contribute to plaque buildup in arteries.
  • Triglycerides: A type of fat in your blood that your body uses for energy.
  • Cholesterol/HDL Ratio (calculated): Compares your total cholesterol with your HDL cholesterol.
  • Non-HDL Cholesterol (calculated): Measures total cholesterol minus HDL, capturing cholesterol carried by particles that can contribute to plaque buildup.
This panel can support routine screening and ongoing cholesterol management. Results are interpreted alongside other factors, such as blood pressure, medical history, and smoking status, to assess your overall cardiovascular risk.
