PTH, Intact without Calcium

Overview:
Parathyroid hormone is produced by four small glands in the neck and is the main regulator of calcium. When blood calcium falls, PTH rises and acts on bone, kidneys and gut to bring it back up. Because the two move together, PTH is almost always interpreted against a calcium measured at the same time: high PTH with high calcium suggests the parathyroid glands are overactive, while high PTH with low calcium usually reflects the glands responding appropriately, often to vitamin D deficiency or kidney disease. This version measures PTH alone, so a separate calcium result is needed.
